Issue Symptom
If you're trying to invite members to your Team Sharing account and received the following error:
"Unable to invite. (XXX)XXX-XXXX is already associated with another one of our apps. Please ask the recipient to close their Index or Sideline account, then re-invite them."
Conditions
- Admin of a Team Sharing account.
- Receiving error when attempting to send an invite.
Cause & Resolution
You've received this error because the member you were trying to invite may already have an active (or inactive) account with either Index, Sideline, or our other service TextFree.
Index does not permit multiple accounts at a time, so you can only send invites to those who do not already have an existing account.
Note: Landlines cannot be part of a Team Sharing account. While you are able to send an invite to a landline, the invite will be stuck as 'pending' since landlines cannot accept the invite link (only true cell numbers can)
Next Steps
If the invitee has an existing account:
- Have the person you invited close their account.
- Resend the invite after you've confirmed their old account is closed
- Have the person accept the invite.
To confirm the invite was sent/accepted:
- Index Settings.
- Tap Team Sharing.
- Next to the member name, you'll see pending or their login status.
- Pending = invite was sent but not accepted.
- Login Status = invite was successfully accepted and the person is either logged out or in.
