Issue Symptoms
Are you an Android user and receiving the error (pictured below) "Could not retrieve price for subscription" when attempting to subscribe to Index?
Conditions
- Android user.
- Receiving error message when attempting to subscribe to Index.
- Pricing is unavailable (you see the error message where the monthly or yearly pricing should be).
- Unable to subscribe to Index (the button is greyed out).
Cause & Resolution
If you are unable to subscribe to Index, we suggest following the steps below in an attempt to resolve your issue.
Step 1: Update the Google Play Store App
- Open the Google Play Store app .
- At the top right, tap the profile icon.
- Tap Settings About Play Store version.
- You’ll get a message that tells you if the Play Store is up to date. Tap Got it.
- If an update is available, it will automatically download and install in a few minutes.
Step 2: Clear Cache for Google Play Store App
Important: When you clear Google Play Services data or storage, it may delete some information saved to your device, including transit cards, COVID cards, and virtual payment cards saved to Google Pay.
On your Android phone:
- Open the Settings app .
- Tap Apps See all apps.
- Scroll down to "Google Play Services."
- Tap Google Play Services.
- Tap Storage Clear Cache.
- Tap Manage Space Clear all Data.
Step 3: Confirm Payment on File with Google is valid
If you're still experiencing issues with subscribing, we recommend checking your credit card and billing address on file is up-to-date.
To check your current payment method:
- Open the Google Play app .
- At the top right, tap the profile icon.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions Payment methods More Payment settings.
- If asked, sign in to Google Pay.
If you need to make changes to your current payment method to correct an issue, follow the steps above then proceed with the below steps:
- Under the payment method you want to remove, tap Edit.
- Make your changes.
- Tap Update.
