One feature of the iOS 18 update allows you to hide apps in a private, locked folder on your iPhone. Apps placed in this folder will not receive call notifications.
How this impacts Index
While you can technically “hide” the Index app on your iPhone, doing so will not prevent you from receiving call notifications (which is Apple's intent with this feature).
Index relies on your device’s phone number to route calls to Index, so that is why this feature does not work with our app specifically. However, we have a simple workaround to prevent Index call notifications if you'd like (see below).
FYI: Text notifications will be silenced as expected, this workaround helps to silence call notifications.
How to silence notifications
If you’d like to still silence/hide CALL notifications from Index, we have a workaround for you:
- View your Index Settings.
- Under Calling, select ”VoIP Calling”
- Toggle the button to enable.
- Tap “OK” to confirm that VoIP calling is enabled.
VoIP Calling will prevent call notifications from coming through, so we’ve found this to be the easiest workaround for silencing these notifications.
Important to note about VoIP Calling
- Emergency calls cannot be made while VoIP calling is enabled.
- These calls require a strong data connection for optimal call performance (WiFi, 4G/5G, or LTE)
