FYI: This article pertains only to Android users on OS 15 and above who have Index installed in Android's "Private Space".
With the release of Android OS 15, the new Private Space feature allows users to create a hidden and locked folder of apps. Apps in this folder are hidden from the “recents” view, notifications, settings, and from other apps when the private space is locked.
How this impacts Index
It’s essential to be aware that making and receiving Index calls may not function as expected when the app is in a private space.
Index relies on your device’s phone number to route calls to Index, which is why this feature does not work specifically with our app.
Important: When Index is installed in Private Space, VoIP (WiFi) Calling is automatically enabled and cannot be disabled in Index Settings unless you remove the Index app from Private Space.
Receiving a call:
When the private space is locked:
- Incoming calls will not come through the Index app.
- The caller’s number or contact name will not be visible. The caller ID will instead show the pilot number.
- Declining the call will send the caller to your personal voicemail.
- If the call is unanswered, the caller will hear your Index voicemail.
- No notifications will be shown for missed calls.

Making a call:
- Outgoing calls will be redirected to the device's calling app.
- The caller will see your carrier phone number instead of your Index number.
